Cross from the Irish Sea to the North Sea on the Coast to Coast Path National Trail over the fells of the Lake District, peaks of the Yorkshire Dales and moors of the North York Moors National Parks…
The Coast to Coast path is currently undergoing significant improvements as it transitions to a ‘National Trail’, including upgrades to moorland sections. This involves creating new paths, improving existing ones, and enhancing accessibility, and the scheme is a collaboration between a number of Councils and Authorities along the route.
Steptoe’s Yard are proud to be involved with supplying some of the flags for the moorland trail improvement works, and to date have supplied 2000m of reclaimed Yorkstone flags to Westmorland & Furness Council for their section of footpath improvements over ‘Nine Standards Rigg’ near Kirkby Stephen, and also 2900m of flags to the Yorkshire Dales National Park Authority for their section of footpath improvements at White Mossy Hill, Swaledale.
In addition to the supply of some of the National Trail flags Steptoe’s Yard Ltd are also supplying some plant and equipment for the Yorkshire Dales section of path improvement works in the form of 2No hydraulic excavator equipped with specialist stone flag handling attachments and extra-wide ‘bog tracks’ for navigating the wetter sections of moorland where the paths are being laid, and the attached photos show the equipment ready to be delivered high up into the Yorkshire Dales.
