Steptoe’s Yard Ltd supplies a large number of old mill flags for use to repair the heavily worn footpaths across the Northumberland National Parks, and beyond.

The flags provide a robust hardstanding to prevent erosion from the thousands of walkers who traverse the National Parks throughout the year.

It is also important that the National Parks Rangers use natural products as part of the repair works, and it doesn’t come more natural than a recycled stone flag, which would have been originally quarried from the Northern Moors in the first place.

This truly is the story of the Mill flags journey spanning over a century… from Moor to Mill and back to Moor again!
