The demolition, excavation and crushing of old concrete and masonry structures, or reinforced floor slabs and external hard-standing areas, is a cost effective and environmentally friendly way of recycling otherwise unusable rubble, and producing a ‘sustainable’ aggregate for on-site filling works.

Crushing hard materials on site not only offers a solution for reducing waste materials; it also reduces the need for delivery vehicular movements, which would otherwise be required to take the waste material from the site and to bring virgin quarried material onto site.

Our crushing plants are designed to ‘chew through’ up to 200 tonnes of concrete and masonry every hour (although c.60-80 tonnes is a more real-world estimate), and so providing you have a reasonable amount requiring crushing, we can produce c.2500 tonnes on re-useable hardcore in a single working week.

Imagine if that 2500 tonnes were to be sent to a landfill site, not only would you have the cost of transport; you would also pay for the privilage of tipping it, and the ever increasing landfill tax, and then you would need to bring to site freshly quarried stone at a cost of perhaps anywhere between £7 and £11 per tonne.

The maths are easy… providing that you have a minimum of say 2 or 3 days work, then crushing materials on site is a cost-effective and ‘planet-friendly’ way of recycling an otherwise unusable material.

We currently have 2 large tracked Jaw Crushers on our fleet, which are:

•  Fintec 1107 – 44 tonne tracked jaw crusher

•  Sandvik QJ240 – 33 tonne tracked crusher

The machines have Local Authority mobile crush permits and all our operatives are fully trained through the Construction Plant Competence Scheme (CPCS).

Alternatively, if you don’t have sufficient material (or room on site) to warrant hiring a crusher, but you are within easy reach of our Reclamation Yard here in Altham and have any quantity of waste concrete, brickwork, stone, tarmac, rock, or anything masonry-esque that we can put through our crushers, then we offer a free tip for any such ‘clean’ hard materials, which you would otherwise pay to send to landfill site.

We’re doing our bit for the planet… why don’t you !
